Study Day: Cooperation, mutualisation and cohesion in response to pressures on cross-border labour markets: toward solidarity practices?

The labor markets in cross-border regions are under pressure: crises (health, energy, demography or even economy), labor shortages and regional competition are just some of the challenges. What are the prospects for cross-border regions? What are the prospects for cross-border areas? There are calls for greater cohesion between territories and more coherent development. Is solidarity between neighboring territories, by pooling resources of all kinds (especially labor resources), the solution to meeting these challenges and guaranteeing a win-win situation in cross-border areas?
This study day addressed these central questions in two panels, during which presentations first of the case of the Grande Région, then of Switzerland, set out the challenges and attempt to provide some answers. The day concluded with a round-table discussion with practitioners and scientists to answer the question "Do border regions need solidarity to face crises and tensions on the labor market? Mutualization, cooperation and cohesion in response to tensions?"
