UniGR-CBS at the ABS Annual Conference 2021

Date de début

This year, the UniGR-CBS was once again present at the annual conference of the Association for Borderlands Studies (ABS). The world's largest association of border scholars gathers researchers from all continents.

In addition to individual lectures by colleagues from the University of Luxembourg, the UniGR-CBS presented the "Bordertextures" approach at the international online conference. This approach was developed in the working group "Bordertextures" and enables to grasp and analyze the multilayeredness and complexity of bordering processes.

Therefore, the UniGR-CBS members Astrid M. Fellner and Eva Nossem from Saarland University organized the panel "Bordertextures: The Multi-Layeredness of Borders" with four individual lectures. The panel focused on the discussion of possible approaches in Cultural Border Studies that explore the interplay of material and immaterial manifestations of  borders.

The working group Bordertextures has already published a workshop report (2018 and 2020) and is currently preparing a book.
