New book – Transformation Processes in Europe and Beyond
The book, which was published in July, provides insights into current transformation processes in Europe via 34 chapters. The authors include ten UniGR-CBS members whose research covers a wide range of topics from a transnational and cross-border perspective: from pandemic experiences and criminal law to energy management or urban borderlands to skills shortages and housing policies.
Europe and the world in all their diversity have always been in a state of change. This ever-changing framework requires corresponding transformations in many different structures. This anthology takes this observation as a starting point to illuminate theoretical perspectives, methodological approaches, and empirical insights related to recent transformation processes in Europe and beyond.
In view of their comprehensive nature, transformation processes cannot be analysed by a uniform approach or theory. In this sense, “horizontal geographies” serve as a theoretical framework. The concept refers to comprehensive, synthesizing regional analyses that collect, structure, and reflect on knowledge with diverse spatial, social, and cultural contexts.
The interdisciplinary and international authorship does justice to the idea of horizontal and multi-perspective geographies and considers a wide range of transformation processes in Europe and beyond.
