UniGR-CBS Glossary Border Studies

The UniGR-CBS Glossary Border Studies collects key concepts in the field of border studies.

Researchers of the UniGR-CBS are outlining key concepts, putting them in relation with each other against the backdrop of their respective disciplinary backgrounds. In this glossary, concepts from the fields of geography, cultural studies, spatial planning, linguistics, literary studies, and others come into contact under the umbrella of border studies.

The visualization of this glossary in the form of a net shows the ways in which its contents are intertwined. This fabric does not only establish links between the key concepts, their definitions, and their authors, but also embeds the concepts within the UniGR-CBS thematic focuses.

This UniGR-CBS Glossary Border Studies does not only focus on the theoretical and content-related discussion of borders and border issues. Rather, it aims at making borders visible, at overcoming them, and making use of their productive spaces. Borders here refer to borders between disciplines, between languages, between knowledge systems, between academic and non-university, external social players, as well as borders between different fields of application in the Greater Region and all over the world.

In the course of the project, 40 entries will be composed in the working languages English, French, and German, leading to the creation of a unique and precious knowledge archive from which students and researchers in the field of Border Studies as well as of interested socio-political and economic players will benefit.
