Book project on the cross-border employment situation in Switzerland

Cross-border workers account for six per cent of the workforce in Switzerland. This is plainly a far lower proportion than in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, nevertheless in the Confederation cross-border workers are an undeniable resource on the employment market and a subject of societal discourse.

The book project (2018-2020) is producing the first ever scientific compendium on the cross-border employment situation in Switzerland, which will deal with both the socio-economic aspects (employment market, economics, transport) and the socio-cultural aspects (career development, private life, identity). The book is to be published by L’Harmattan and will provide insights into the main labour market developments and the everyday lives of cross-border workers in Switzerland.

The book project is coordinated by Isabelle Pigeron-Piroth (University of Luxembourg) in collaboration with the LABOR SwissLux research group.
