Call for Paper – Closing conference: Emergencies and Borders
The conference on 20–21 November 2025 at the University of Lorraine (Metz) marks the conclusion of the series “Emergencies and Border: Franco-German Perspectives”, which is part of the Program-Training-Research of CIERA (2023–2025).
Emergencies and borders: study of polycrisis: (post-)migration, pandemics and climate/energy
This call is open to proposals that address the theme of urgency in its various manifestations. The following key areas are at the centre of the discussion
- Emergencies in action and inaction: Analyses of forms of collective action or inaction in crisis contexts, as well as the actors and institutions that assign urgency to certain events.
- Temporalities and spatialities of emergencies: Investigations of temporal paradoxes, accelerated perceptions of time, and territorial or liminal configurations of urgent situations.
- Potentials of Emergencies: Contributions that focus on the affective, social and political dimensions of emergency, including new narratives, artistic forms of expression or the illumination of marginalised perspectives.
Download the Call for Paper in German or French.
Proposals should be sent in the form of abstracts (approx. 15 lines) with a brief bio(biblio-)graphical note by April 28, 2025 to Carole Wernert (carole.wernert@univ-lorraine.fr) and Cécile Chamayou-Kuhn (cecile.chamayou-kuhn@univ-lorraine.fr).
An event in cooperation with the UniGR-Center for Border Studies.
